3 things about me Hi friend! If you're new here, 3 things about me

Hi friend! If you're new here, welcome. I'm Deanne, a writer, book coach, and spiritual director, and Unstoppable Writers is all about walking and writing with God.

Here are three things about me:

1. I'm a third-culture kid. I was born in Germany to Canadian missionary parents, and I've been writing my way toward home ever since.

2. I'm the oldest of four, which might explain why I love cheering people on and helping them take their next small step.

3. Some of my best writing happens on walks with my dog, Brownie. I talk into voice memos and come home with a draft.

Now I'd love to meet you. Tell me three things about you in the comments!

If you're sensing a nudge to write, my ebook When God Calls a Writer is free for you (l i n k in bio)
Stuck in the messy middle of your book? You're pa Stuck in the messy middle of your book?

You're past the excitement of starting, and you still can't see the finish line.

Here's what helps:
>> Short sprints, like two pages a day
>> Celebrate each one, with other people
>> Release the outcome and focus on your part
>> Don't give up

Small, consistent steps will carry you further than waiting until you feel inspired.

What's your writing sprint this week? Tell me in the comments.
A writer told me that when she finished her first A writer told me that when she finished her first rough draft, she had no idea what to do next.

Over the next couple of years, she learned to edit: use stronger verbs, cut what wasn't needed, and trust readers' imaginations.

Writing is a marathon.

And here's the good news: perseverance is within your control.

You can't control book sales or every timeline, but you can keep showing up and adjust your rhythm as your seasons change.

What does perseverance look like for you in this season?
I used to think a boundary meant stating something I used to think a boundary meant stating something and hoping others would respect it.

Now I think a real boundary is one where I still hold all the control, even if someone doesn't honor it.

This week I'm inviting you to take full responsibility for your writing life:

your time
your energy
your choices, yes, even in the hard ones

What might it look like to embrace the season you are in, while cultivating courage to pursue your writing dreams?

And the reminder that I so desperately need as a recovering people pleaser: my responsibility is for my life, not everyone else's feelings about my choices.
Do not be ashamed of your mistakes and questions. Do not be ashamed of your mistakes and questions.

God is with you, guiding each pen stroke of your life.

There is nothing beyond His view, nothing hidden or far. While it can be a terrifying thought, may you remember who He is:

Jesus embodied in flesh
Holy Spirit dwelling within
God the Father who made you and desires to walk with you in the garden of your soul.

May you gaze upon Him and continue to be set free from all fear.
Working on my book this week and remembering a piv Working on my book this week and remembering a pivotal moment in my writing journey:

"Deanne, can I talk to you for a moment?" My English professor pulled me aside after class.

A pit formed in my stomach. Did I do something wrong?

She held my paper and extended it to me: a big red A on the front page.

“Deanne, you have a real gift. You express yourself well and see the deeper themes and connections in what we’re reading. Have you thought of pursuing an English degree?”

My eyes widened. Could it be true?

I don’t remember where the conversation went after that, but that question changed my life. “Have you thought of pursuing an English degree?”

She cracked open a desire I had buried: to write and make a difference in the world of words.
