SACRED RHYTHM

Explore group spiritual direction with Christian writers & creatives.

If you’re longing to cultivate a listening life and a fully alive presence with God, Sacred Rhythm may be for you. This is a small-group spiritual direction experience for Christian writers and creatives who want to slow down, listen, and cultivate a steady rhythm of walking with God.

Together, we make space to sit in the garden of our souls with God and tend what is actually there: one season, experience, question, and conversation at a time. There is no pressure to perform, produce, or arrive with the right answer.

Your life is the material.

God is the Master Author, writing our stories. When you share even one area of your life, it is a microcosm of your beliefs, affections, struggles and priorities.

Bringing what feels alive, or heavy and unresolved, to notice and prayerfully pause. God may surprise you with how much He has to say. The Master Author of your life welcomes you and no plot twist surprises Him.

Even in the months you’re listening rather than sharing, you’ll often find the Holy Spirit ministers to you too. Our stories connect because we’re interconnected. We are one body and being present to others shapes us too.

How Sacred Rhythm Works

How often do we go through the motions of life and forget to sit at the feet of Jesus? Spiritual direction is an invitation to be like Mary: slow down, sit, and gaze upon the face of Christ. Listen to His voice. In a group setting, we listen and discern together.

Still, it’s easy to become busy serving God and forget to simply be with God.

That’s why Sacred Rhythm invites you to cultivate a monthly rhythm of slowing down, listening, and being with God, with a small, trusted group of writers and creatives doing the same.

A few important details:

  • We gather once a month for 90 minutes. Two people share during each session while the other two directees listen and pray alongside the director who facilitates our time.
  • Your life is the material. Whatever is rising in you this month is exactly what we bring. There’s no theme, teaching, or agenda.
  • We’re not here to fix each other. We’re here because God invites us to come apart together, into a quiet place with Him.
  • Our time is for deep listening, attentiveness, and sacred presence. This isn’t fellowship, Bible study, coaching, or counseling.
  • It is a 6-month commitment because safety and trust take time. At the end of our season, we can decide as a group whether we desire to continue.
  • We notice what Jesus is saying to us: the invitations we sense in the challenges and celebrations of our lives. Together, we pay attention to the themes and stirrings of our lives.

What is group spiritual direction?

Spiritual direction is a listening relationship centered on your life with God.

A spiritual director is trained to listen deeply—to you and to the movement of the Holy Spirit—and may offer questions, Scripture, silence, or spiritual practices that help you become more attentive to God’s presence.

In group spiritual direction, we practice that kind of listening together. Rather than beginning with, “What should I do?” we often begin with: Where is God in this?

What is spiritual formation?

Spiritual formation happens in the soil of our daily lives and is the lifelong process. It is the ongoing work of Christ shaping you into His likeness as He cultivates what’s true, plants what’s needed, and prunes what pulls you away or distracts.

It isn’t about looking more impressive or spiritual on the outside. It’s about becoming increasingly attentive and responsive to God’s presence in every season of the soul. Sacred Rhythm creates room to become more attentive and responsive to God in all of it.

The space between sessions matters too.

Ninety minutes a month may sound light. It isn’t.

The gathering gives us a place to notice what is happening with God, but the conversation often continues long after Zoom closes. A question may follow you into the week, or a word or theme may keep returning. The rhythm is not limited to the monthly gathering; it is learning to live more attentively between them too.

Sacred Rhythm may be for you if...

🌿 You’re craving deeper connection with God and others.
🌿 You are tired of pressure, constant productivity, or feeling like you always need to be improving something.
🌿 You want a small, trusted community that honors both your spiritual life and your creative life.
🌿 You want to become a better listener—to God, to yourself, and to others.
🌿 You are willing to bring your actual life rather than a polished version of it.
🌿 And you are looking for an ongoing rhythm rather than a one-time reset.

What's included:

  • One 90-minute group spiritual direction gathering each month on Zoom (they are not recorded).
  • A small, consistent group of 4 directees plus Deanne.
  • A confidential, prayerful space to share and listen.
  • A six-month commitment so trust and safety have time to grow.

At the end of six months, we can discern together whether the group would like to continue.
Investment: $49/month for six months

Prefer one-to-one spiritual direction?

If a group does not feel like the right fit for this season, you can also meet with me individually for ongoing spiritual direction. One-to-one sessions offer 50 minutes of unhurried space to bring your actual life before God with the companionship of a trained spiritual director.

Cost for one-to-one is $99 per session or $89 with a 6-month commitment.

A little about me

I'm here to listen...to you and the Holy Spirit

I’m a spiritual director, author and founder of Unstoppable Writers. My own life with God has never been separate from my creative life, so I hold spiritual direction the same way I hold everything else here: safe, sacred, and unhurried space.

This is not coaching, mentorship, or advice-giving.

It is a place to slow down, pay attention to God’s presence in your actual life, and become more attentive to how He is meeting and forming you in this season.
